Hints & Myths about Argentine Tango

tango8.bmp Tango Following

Tango following requires poise and sensitivity. The follower moves from one balanced position to a new one in line with the leader's subtle movements of shoulders and torso.

A good leader will always show the intention of his move with a small axis shift and check that the follower is moving in that direction before committing himself fully to the axis shift. This is the key to appearing to move together.

Alex Krebs shared some of his experience with us:

Posture - those 2 inches

Forward/back/side stretches

Closed eyes hands holding - sense direction

walk in couples

Forward ocho

Backward ocho

Opposed forward/backward ochos
