Hints & Myths about Argentine Tango

tango8.bmp Boleo

The boleo refers to any move in which - usually - the follower's lower leg lifts to almost horizontal and flashes across in front or behind her other leg.

Alex Krebs taught us something about boleos during his workshops on Tango illusions in Cambridge in July 2001.

From any step - follower balanced on one foot:

Leader rotates follower “at resonance” (Hips turn more than shoulders)

In backward boleo:

follower’s foot arcs behind the balancing one to touch leader’s foot

In forward boleo:

follower’s free foot arcs in front of the balancing one to form a cross

leader draws follower forward into forward or steps around her for backward ocho
